Boy it feels like ages since i last blogged….hmm, that’ll be the reason for an empty home page then!! Anway I’ve been super busy (haven’t we all) but this time playing with Goss Interactives (http://www.gossinteractive.com) new release of their CMS, iCM v7. Now it’s not a much talked about product but i’ve been using it for almost 18 months now and to be honest it just keeps on getting better!
So why do i like it then….back in v6 they started using the Async Event Gateway but only on CF Enterprise - as they immediately index pages (articles) when you edit them so they are available in the search. This works great on CF Enterprise but is unavailable on Standard….iCM 7 introduces async gateways for CF Standard by making using of MULE - a Gateway Windows service is installed on each node and nodes in the ‘farm’ registered to the product so when you update an article it gets passed to the gateway to process it but then it then is sent to all the other nodes to async gateways to update their own Lucene collections - oh yeah, I forgot that bit….they’ve ditched using Verity and are now using Lucene to power their searches. Because a sites template talk via their API then the API has been updated to allow the site owner to choose Verity/Lucene but no other changes to code need to be made.
If you’re in the market for a CF powered CMS then i would well recommend talking with Goss, like most CMS companies their website doesn’t reveal much but it is worth pursuing!!!

I see you bought into the Macromedia/Coldfusion hype. It’s dead. Even Goss plan to move away from it very soon. No one wants it anymore.

I’d just like to make a statement about Goss and it’s position.
iCM has always been developed to bring cutting edge content management functionality to as many platforms as possible. iCM isn’t just a CMS for CF folk, we have native API’s for .NET, Java and CF. We have many customers using all three platforms very successfully, we don’t force the technology platform choice upon the customer or debate about which platform is the best. At GOSS we simply concentrate on bringing the best possible content management tools to the widest audience we can.
