Before the end of last year I changed my mobile phone over to a really neat device, the o2 Mini S - aka the HTC Wizard, T-Mobile Vario, i-Mate K-Jam, Orange SPV3000. It’s a really really neat device, just larger than a cigarette packet it features a slide out QWERTY keyboard (which changes screen orientation to Landscape), Windows Mobile 5.0 (so push email very soon!) and most importantly Wifi. It’s not the most powerful SmartPhone/PocketPC but it runs TomTom GPS just fine and I can RDP into my servers from anywhere - even over a GPRS connection!

Have you seen the E-Ten m600?

It’s slightly smaller than the i-mate, faster processor, bigger screen and most important: cheaper. We have tested both at work and have gone with the E-Ten. Works great.

looks great, but no UK operator offers that phone…buying it offline usually puts the phone over the $500 then you still have contracts etc to pay. Guess it’s the same everywhere in the world, the price you actually pay for the phone is usually related to the contract you signup for and the length of term.
