Well I received a lot of interest in my CF Enterprise justification document that i presented to my bosses - I’ve finished cleaning it up so can now share it. Please remember, it’s entirely my own work, there maybe stuff in it that is incorrect (please let me know and i’ll correct it) but it should give you a good starting block if you’re going through the same process with your bosses!

oh please! As if we are to believe your bosses will ever read, let alone understand such a document. Good writing and well reasoned document…but I think we all know this is more than a little beyond the suits.

Thanks for posting this John. But the link to PDF has three slashes after "http:", and Opera 8 complained about the bad URL. Fix when you have a chance.

Great document.
As a developer who has gone over to the dark side of management let me give everybody a few tips about how you get us pointy headed manager types to listen to you. Telling me something is technically superior is only going to mildly peak my intrest. There is always something technically superior out there.
Tell me how it is going to save me money. For example, the event gateways save me from having to buy another product to do this, the graphic thumbnail example means we don’t have to pay a graphic artist to resize all our graphics, the multiple instances mean we have to buy less hardware (less capex) and fewer servers means fewer administrators (less opex). Getting the picture?
Most managers are not rewarded / judged by how elegant thier technical solutions are, but by what their P&L statement looks like. Show me how I am going to save money in the long run by spending a bit more.
Wives are good at this concept. Like when my wife spends $400 on shoes and says she has saved us $150 because they were on sale.

FYI: There are 3 slashes (http:///) in the link to the pdf that my IE didnt like very well.
‘Cannot find server or DNS Error’

I’m not seeing the three slashes, and I’m not using IE, but I can’t load the document either.

You didn’t mention ‘Asynchronous Processing’ which in my opinion, is one of the biggest benefits of Enterprise Coldfusion MX7.
