On Friday I accepted a new job, so on the 17th December I depart my current IT support slash developer role to move into a full time Senior Cold Fusion Developer role with a huge UK company, gone are the days of fixing computers and responding to support requests! Yeah!!!!!

what a shame…

What a shame that MXEurope has had to be cancelled next year down to lack of sponsorship - i attended the 2003 conference and it was great to have globally recognised speakers in attendance and with Blackstone just around the corner it would have been a great opportunity to revive ColdFusion interest in Europe

I want a Bluephone

BT are announcing a great sounding technology called Bluephone, well they annouced it a while ago but it’s getting more press these days. Basically, when your at home your calls on your cell phone would talk via bluetooth base station through an ADSL connection but when your out and about the phone would use normal cell phone networks - its about time this happened! Got a while to wait though, introducing in 2005

Here’s a question i was just posed…

You have a table, TBL_Salary with column names, ID, Name and Salary - you need to write a SQL statement to retrieve the name of the 2nd highest paid salary. Thoughts? Now that i’ve thought about it more i’ve got an answer but i’d like to see what you all think.

it’s here!

I just logged onto the MM support forums and noticed they’ve upgraded to a newer version of Fusetalk and now they’re publishing RSS feeds from the forums, nice!

UPDATE: The RSS feeds they’re publishing all have the same title!! Ooops!

LOCK & TRANSACTION custom lexicon

Fusebox 4 Comments »

Those two pieces of custom lexicon for Fusebox 4.1 are now available for download,

lock.zip
transaction.zip

You’ll need to register a custom lexicon folder in your fusebox.xml file, eg

<lexicons>
<lexicon namespace=“jb” path=“jb/”/>
</lexicons>

Where path is the folder name beneath the ‘lexicon’ folder. You would then call the custom lexicon like this:

<jb.lock mode=“start” type=“exclusive” scope=“application” />

<jb.lock mode=“end” />

in your circuit.xml files around the calls you want to be wrapped in a CFLOCK tag. The same applies to the lock lexicon too, there’s a usage note in the header of each file

REMEMBER: Use of these is at your own risk, this feature may and probably will change in later versions of Fusebox
