Given that Macromedia anounced the ‘Non Commercial/Non institutional license for Flex 1.5 I’ve been wondering if CFMX7 will follow a similar licensing plan?
Allowing developers to use CFMX7 ‘free’ on their own personal websites can only be a good thing, so i hope it’s something Macromedia are considering. I only hope it’s not the higher cost of Flex that has led to such a decision.

Interesting thought!
I’d say NO, simply because CFMX really does not need as much retail stimulation as FLEX does. In that, sure the Rich can afford the product, but it still needs some "pushing the envelope" examples of it out there in the wild for others to stop and go "hey that product really does kick some ass".
I think one reason Macromedia has released the NCL, personally is that they may realise that the people who sell the FLASH technology are in fact the Flash developers themselves. If you gave a competent Flash Developer a version of FLEX and left them alone for a month, its amazing what they would come back - and that spells out good PR for FLEX.
Thats my opinion as to why NCL came about.
Coldfusion on the other hand is "unseen", in that for example today a co-worker made this really smart Workflow manager, which basically persists all combined scopes in a really smart way, remembering what you input into the software at any given point (ie like a history manager) all feeding off an XML layer to describe the UI.
What you *actually* see is a form, that keeps information.. wooo….yaaaay…but can i have it "now left aligned and in blue" is what the response you get from stakeholders, people who control the purchasing power.
To me, CFMX even via NCL won’t really dramatically increase its sales, as lets face it you can get away with the developer edition to demonstrate its power - typically thats enough. Plus throw in fairly cheap hosting out their and once again, you can still demo the product in a cheap approach (Bluedragon for one is a fairly solid alternative).
Thats what your up against when waving the NCL, a big fat ‘eh…why, convince me of its reasons and maybe i’ll throw you a bone’.
