thanks to an internet buddy i now have a Gmail account. I’m going to follow Sean Corfield and use it as my mail listing receiving email account since allegedly it groups emails into conversation automatically for me.

In subscribing to lists with my new account i’ve found some neat features. Whereas previously clicking on mailto: links in other web mails accounts has opening up a New Mail message in Outlook 2003 clicking on one within a gmail email opens up a child new gmail window. Nice! As for deleting email, there’s a move to trash option but then you can ‘delete forever’ from the trash folder. Auto completion on contacts from a web mail client is pretty neat - plus as Sean found it works on Firefox 0.9.

When i find something else cool i’ll post back here.

As you’ll see from my blog, I’ve just switched from Safari to Firefox for general browsing - first MS Exchange webmail doesn’t work properly in Safari, then Gmail doesn’t work in Safari and finally there are just so many cool plug-ins / extensions for Firefox that I couldn’t resist…
